Dangerous, Destructive Street Gangs

I had to laugh at this email photo I got from my Mom
about "street gangs" in Helena, Montana.

We have a similar problem in our town.
In fact they even invade our yard!

They can be dangerous -
don't mess with the bulls during the fall rut
and stay away from the cows
and their newborn calves in the spring.
They also destroy almost all garden plantings
and cause "Elk Jams"
- our town's version of traffic jams -
when elk and tourists clog the main roads.
But we love our furry friends,
even though some "gangs" recruit
from the youth of our community!

This youngster was recruited by his own mom
right from our property!
What's the world coming to?

Meow,
I love it. What a (relatively) nice problem to have.

I know your 'gangs' can be dangerous. I might enjoy wantching them in the day time it must be really scary driving at night with them around. We rarely see deer around her in the day time but it scares me to drive at dusk or dawn when they are moving around. Too many of my friends have hit deer. Be careful!

Hugs,
PK

It has gotten to where I hate driving at night because of the deer. Every morning around here, we see where someone hit one the night before.

I know they can be dangerous but what a lovely sight.

We go walking in a wooded park not far from us which have deer but we've never spotted one. There's lots of signs saying be careful driving through at night.

We went to Finland a few years back and saw quite a few Elks, our host said a lot wander on the road at night.

Love.

Meow, Great pics!! Thanks for posting them. As a native Montana girl still living in Big Sky country, I can say that is a pretty normal sight. Not so much to take them for granted, but enough. I saw a mama deer and two babies right next to my front porch the other day when I left for work. it make for a good morning!

hahaha - that is so funny! I mean, really it's not. I know that this is becoming a real problem in some urban areas!

You are so lucky I wish we had destructive street gangs like that here in California!

Roaming herds of elk are fun to watch in our little town and are also a big tourist draw. It's funny to see the cars lined up watching a bull elk mate with his harem of cows. I'm glad the tourists don't peep in our windows to watch us mate! We do get quite a few elk and deer on our yard, but since I don't even try to garden and we have natural landscaping, I don't mind. Our son-in-law totaled his car by hitting a deer and he could have been seriously injured - but wasn't, thank God! When I saw the email about the "gangs" I just had to pull out some pictures of our local deer and elk "gangs"!

Hugs to all and I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures!

Great pics, Meow!
We sometimes get deer on our roads, my ex (he wasnt my ex at the time!)hit one once and it didn't do our car a lot of good... he got home quite shaken, and was raging about the car; I asked if he killed the deer, he said no, the deer was ok.... I said "Thank heavens fror that!" and was immediately berated for caring more about the bloody deer than him or the car.... (oops!) LOL!

Hi Meow

I've been a bit busy and so behind on my blogging AND my blog reading. It's good to know you are keeping the home fires burning. I wonder if the whole rant thing is in the air? Because I certainly could, but I'm trying not to, and then I've been super busy.

Lovely pictures. LOVELY. Hugs to you both!!

I have a similar problem with the deers hear in Wisconsin.. One minute watching the young grow and play in the yard. The next minute, wanting to shoot them for eating up all my plants..

Liked the pictures of the "street gangs." My SIL's family runs an elk ranch. They took us out during feeding time and it was amazing. Going through the gates of the pins, I felt like I was entering Jurassic Park. They are so beautiful.
Our street gangs are alligators. Although, the signs I read in Florida crack me up-"Don't moleste the Alligators." Hmmm. :)

Daisy, Big oops, but maybe all part of why he's an ex.

Paula, Rant away if you want to. Hope it's nothing really major!

1manview, We lived in Wisc. for about a year! Beautiful! I wish we could have stayed! Welcome!

Katia, Elk are majestic and usually very mild mannered -at least around here. They're so used to being around people.

Hugs to all, Meow
